Great Lakes Science Center Great Lakes Science Center Uses Blackbaud Analytics™ To Drive Annual Fund Growth
Opened in July 1996, the Great Lakes Science Center is one of America’s largest interactive science museums. More than 400 exciting hands-on exhibits, breathtaking OMNIMAX® films, daily demonstrations, and exciting educational programs show visitors the interdependency of science, environment, and technology, particularly in the Great Lakes Region.
The Challenge: The Great Lakes Science Center had a low amount of contributed income from individuals and relied heavily on corporate and foundation support. But after decline in support from corporations and foundations, the Center doubled its annual fund goal and began cultivating long-term relationships with individuals.
The Solution: Although the Great Lakes Science Center had an annual fund program in place, it had not invested significant resources in developing lasting connections with donors. Great Lakes Science Center chose ProspectPoint™, Blackbaud Analytics’ custom modeling service, to analyze the donors in its database and provide a targeted plan for cultivating support.
The Results: Blackbaud Analytics™ used gift and demographic data housed in The Raiser’s Edge® to develop a custom model that would identify those people most likely to support the Great Lakes Science Center. By applying the custom model to a broader set of records, Blackbaud Analytics was able to identify the organization’s best potential donors. The museum is positioned to exceed its aggressive annual fund goal.
