Midland Care Finds Donors across State Lines with the Help of Blackbaud NetCommunity

Midland Care is a nonprofit, community-based organization that provides options to families with challenging healthcare needs. For more than 30 years, it has specialized in end-of-life, palliative, bereavement and frail elder care services. Midland Care serves 20 Northeast Kansas counties.

The Challenge:
  • Midland Care was using a third-party vendor for its website management. This made it both cumbersome and time-consuming to make changes or updates.
  • With an educational component to its mission, Midland Care needed a system that would enable online registration for seminars and classes.
  • They needed the ability to create fundraising pages that would support events and other fundraising efforts.
  • Additionally, they wanted to make membership renewal for annual campaigns quick and easy for returning donors.

The Solution:

  • Blackbaud NetCommunity’s seamless integration with The Raiser’s Edge provided the organization with an easy way to import data gathered online into its donor management solution.
  • The online registration functionality in Blackbaud NetCommunity allows constituents to quickly and easily sign up for educational classes and provides a simple way for medical personnel and the community to view educational opportunities and register accordingly.
  • Patients and caregivers can create personal pages on the Blackbaud NetCommunity website where friends and family can leave messages.

The Results:

  • Memorial donations on Midland Care’s website increased five percent in 2008 compared to 2007.
  • There has been an increase in the number of people going online, even from out of state, to donate and promote memorial pages, which saves staff from manually entering donations.
  • Midland Care has also seen a decrease in the number of phone calls received by individuals wanting to donate with a credit card while increasing the number of credit card donations.
