NAU Alumni Association Turns to Blackbaud for a Feature-Rich Online Alumni Center

The NAU Alumni Association (NAUAA) was founded in 1910 by Creola Black, class of 1902, and is an independent nonprofit organization chartered to support Northern Arizona University. While the NAU alumni family spans over a century and includes a diverse range of professions and ethnic backgrounds, it is united by its commitment to a highly personal educational mission -- education with a face and a name, resulting in a learning experience of the highest caliber, a foundation for quality lives.

The Challenge:

• Northern Arizona University Alumni Association’s mission is to provide opportunities for alumni and friends to connect with each other and support the University.
• In order to help meet its mission, The Alumni Association needed to develop an online presence that kept alumni engaged with the University and each other.
• The Association needed to provide online giving, an online alumni directory, and e-newsletter tools, in addition to a content management system.

The Solution:

• NAU Alumni Association selected Blackbaud’s Alumni Center to implement a new look and feel for its alumni site.
• With the e-communications capability in Blackbaud’s Alumni Center, the Association is able to track the email open rates, number of monthly visitors, and number of web page hits.
• Blackbaud’s Alumni Center enables the Association to include interactive features, such as contests and polls, that help to increase the level of interaction among alumni.

The Results:

• Online directory now contains the entire alumni base of over 90,000
• Online giving donations totaling more than $12,000
• Almost doubling the number of e-newsletter subscribers close to 3,000
• More than one million email messages sent
