Big Brothers Big Sisters of America Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Signature Fundraiser Moves Closer to Goals with Help from Blackbaud Sphere™
Big Brothers Big Sisters of America is the oldest, largest, and most effective youth mentoring organization in the United States. The organization helps children reach their potential through one-to-one relationships with measurable results. Big Brothers Big Sisters of America serves 225,000 children ages six through 18, in all 50 states. National research has shown that the positive relationships between youth and their Big Brothers and Big Sisters have a direct, measurable, and lasting impact on children’s lives. The national office is located in Philadelphia.
The organization’s signature fundraiser, Bowl for Kids’ Sake, has been raising funds and awareness for the past 40 years. More than half a million people from across the country participate in the annual event.
The Challenge:
- With 425 agencies across the country, BBBSA needed to provide local agencies with a simple, template-based application to support online fundraising through its signature fundraising event, Bowl for Kids’ Sake.
- The organization needed to deploy an enterprise fundraising, CMS, and CRM to all agencies to ensure consistency in communications, marketing, and fundraising.
- To maintain communications throughout the organization, BBBSA needed to develop an Extranet.
The Solution:
- Sphere® Events Advanced™ powered by Friends Asking Friends® was used to enhance participation and was deployed using national templates.
- BBBSA setup a web-in-a-box solution designed to allow local agencies to quickly deploy web tools including CMS, online forms, and email.
- Sphere® eMarketing™powers the agency’s Intranet to provide password protected access to content and data specifically for agency staff.
The Results:
- BBBSA supported 146 agencies with their Bowl for Kids’ Sake event websites.
- The organization increased its overall event donations nearly 60% annually from 2005 to 2008.
- BBBSA increased its online fundraising from nearly $1 million to over $4 million from 2005 to 2008.
- BBBSA deployed more than 40 web-in-a-box solutions to individual agencies.
- BBBSA deployed an organization-wide Intranet, Agency Connection, with more than 5,000 users and 8,000 content items.
