Australian Nonprofits can Kick-Start Online Fundraising With BlackbaudNow™ nonprofits can build a website that accepts online donations with PayPal in as little as five minutes SYDNEY, 19 November 2009 – Nonprofit community groups and small charities looking to boost their fundraising efforts can take advantage of BlackbaudNow™, a new “do-it-yourself” website builder and online fundraising toolkit. The solution enables nonprofit organisations, such as the local cricket club or start-up charity, to build their own websites and start accepting online donations with PayPal in as little as five minutes. There are approximately 700,000 nonprofit organisations in Australia, many of which have not yet embraced the web for fundraising. According to a report by Connecting Up Australia, only 27 percent of nonprofits sell goods and services online while as little as 22 percent use the Internet for fundraising. "We’ve developed BlackbaudNow in partnership with PayPal to give small charities and community groups a simple tool to kick-start their online fundraising efforts,” said John O'Donnell, Blackbaud Pacific’s managing director. “Nonprofits can sign up for BlackbaudNow to create a website, accept online donations, track their supporters, and get their message out to supporters – without any upfront financial investment.” Nonprofits can sign up for BlackbaudNow at www.bbnow.com.au. There is no set-up charge or monthly fees. Instead, nonprofits pay a low fee on a per-transaction basis based on the volume of online donations. “Whether it’s the local sports club or parenting group, community groups can be up and running with their own website featuring PayPal payment processing in as little as five minutes,” said O’Donnell. “All they need to do is follow a series of simple ‘point-and-click’ steps, and use the provided templates – it’s that easy.” Nonprofits that sign up for BlackbaudNow will have instant access to:
More than 100,000 nonprofits around the globe already use PayPal for payment processing, including organisations such as The Smith Family, Movember and Koala Hospital in Australia. "By partnering with Blackbaud, we can help small nonprofit community groups better achieve their fundraising goals,” said Glenn Lim, general manager of global alliances for PayPal. “Many of our existing nonprofit customers have found that using PayPal increases the size of their average donation and lowers the cost of acquiring new donors.” To sign up for BlackbaudNow, please visit www.bbnow.com.au. Nonprofits will also have to register for a PayPal Australia account at www.paypal.com.au.
