Skill Building Workshops

Skill-Building Workshops

If you’re looking to get a strategic overview of a certain area plus the working skills you need to put your ideas to work quickly, make sure to check out our Skill-Building Workshops. Each Workshop will be presented over the course of two regular Conference sessions.

Part one of each Skill-Building Workshop will cover a specific subject in lecture format and will set the foundation for learning the material. Part two will build upon what was covered in the first session, and it will provide hands-on training in a lab format, where attendees will be provided with laptops to practice their skills. In this experiential learning environment, attendees will be guided through real-life assignments and apply learned techniques in action, helping them retain the knowledge. Subject-matter experts will be on hand to provide immediate feedback.

Part one of each Workshop — the lecture portion — is open attendance. Part two of each Workshop —the lab portion — is limited to 40 people and requires pre-registration. Visit the Registration Desk to register, or register online:

Skill Building: Ethics Under Fire — Parts 1 & 2*

Jay Love, Founder, President, & CEO, eTapestry
Joy Simpson, CFRE, Fundraising Consultant
Paul Clolery, Vice President & Editorial Director, NPT Publishing Group

Ethics aren’t a straightforward, “black and white” issue — instead, there are many shades of grey. This lively interactive session will start with a point/counterpoint review of the most controversial ethics cases. The last decade has brought unflattering media attention as we watched the public trust erode with headlines of nonprofits’ moral breakdown. What is the ethical tone of your organization? Has ethical behavior been influenced by the tightened economic conditions? Ethics Under Fire is an interactive workshop that will challenge your moral barometer and detail prescriptive measures you can take avoid an ethical lapse. Come and challenge your ethical judgment.

After this session, you will be able to:

  1. Develop an understanding of ethics so you can navigate the grey areas at your own organization
  2. Use the policy and procedure kit that will be given to you during the session to develop an ethics plan for your nonprofit and ensure compliance
  3. Create an action plan to protect your organization
*Part two of each Skill-Building Workshop is limited to 40 people and requires pre-registration. Register for Skill Building: Ethics Under Fire — Part 2
