Basic Data Model Concepts

Blackbaud Data Warehouse (BBDW) and BBDW Online Analytical Processing (BBDW OLAP) can be installed for selected Infinity applications such as Blackbaud CRM. This chapter briefly discusses OLAP, data warehouses, and a database structure called star schema. These topics are then related to BBDW.

Blackbaud Data Warehouse design is influenced by the Kimball methodology. This chapter and the chapter called Data Model for Blackbaud Data Warehouse and OLAP highlight some aspects of the design and especially deviations from the Kimball methodology.
