Course Request Settings

 Before you begin, please make sure that the following tasks are complete:

  • Upcoming school year and terms are created and published.

  • Course request settings are up to date on courses.

  • Courses are offered for the upcoming term.

  • If advisors recommend or approve course requests, the current year's advisories must be set up.

To get started:

  1. Navigate to Academics.

  2. Select  Scheduling , Requests and schedules, and thenCourse request setup.

  3. Choose the appropriate filters at the top for School Year, Group Type, and School Level.

When a faculty member goes to select or request courses, the system will need to know how to display certain courses. Specify how to handle the following under Exceptions To Communicate:

  • Lacks prerequisite

  • Assigned to a different grade level than the course

For each of the exceptions, choose one of the three options:

  • Ignore: No checks are enabled and faculty can freely request or enroll in courses.

  • Show message: Faculty will be notified that they are not able to request or enroll in courses. Faculty will see the same message when approving course requests, but they will be able to override the exception check.

  • Hide course from list: Courses will be hidden for students who do not meet the pre-established course requirements.

In the Policy section, you can enter a signup policy. This can include information for students like how many classes a student must take, credit requirements, etc.

If you want to display the policy to students, set the Displayed slider to Yes.

Note: This is a global setting that affects all school levels and group types.

  1. Scroll down to Term settings.

  2. The Student population column refers to the grade level that students will enter during the term. Depending on your school's settings, you may be able to enter data in all or some of the following columns:

    • Signup Begin: The first day on which students can request courses.

    • Signup End: The last day on which the students can request courses.

    • Recommend: The users who recommend (or require) classes for students.

    • Approve: The users who approve requests.

    • Min Request: The minimum number of requests a student can make.

    • Max Request: The maximum number of requests a student can make.

    • Min Enroll: The minimum number of classes in which a student must be enrolled.

  3. Changes will save automatically.

Note: Incoming Student does not refer to the role of incoming student. It refers to constituents who are enrolled in the school but do not have any prior enrollment records.
