Pages & Menus

A website wouldn't be much without pages full of content as well as the navigation to help users get to where they need to go.

Thankfully, you can create menus and pages right from the same location under School website. Once created and added to a menu, pages can be further customized through a variety of Content Types that can be easily placed where needed and filled with great content.

To access these options, select School website , Website management, Websites, use the context menu for the site you want to edit, and then select Pages & menus.

Page managers can create a new menu by selecting + Add menu, You can then add a name to help identify it from other menus. Some traditional naming options include things like Main menu, Footer menu, and Login menu, but you can certainly get creative for whatever your school needs. Once the name is saved, the new menu will appear in the list under the Menus column.

Tip: If you want to change the menu name at some point, select Settings.

With the new menu now ready, page managers next need to add content.

The first option is to link to an existing page. Select Link to page to manually enter a URL, select a page from any fully created websites, or use the first child page for the current website that is currently in development. If you have multiple menus, you can use a dropdown to select which one to associate the link to as well as enable an option to Open in New Window or not.

Note: Any pages not currently associated with a specific menu will be displayed within the Landing pages list.

As the primary way to communicate information to a site visitor, pages allow the user to add content through a drag and drop system. To add a new page, select + Create page, which will cause a modal window to appear that requests information such as the Page Name, the type of page it'll be, what menu to use, if a master layout will be used, and whether or not this page will be accessible from a menu or act as a landing page. Select Save & close to have the new page appear in the menu list it was applied to.

From the page list, select the wrench icon followed by Edit page content. From here, users can view how the page will appear from different size screens that include different mobile devices, load the directly in a browser, or select from three different page options: Page Settings, Page Layout, and Page Style.

Warning: If a page is deleted, it can't be recovered.

Settings is where you can change details of the page like Page name, SSL settings, Meta keywords, and any Custom titles. You can also select the NOINDEX option under Meta robots which will block that page from search engines. Any changes made to the settings take effect immediately.

Note: Meta Keywords are no longer used by search engine indexes, but they are used for our search widget results. You can add one at a time, or add more than one as long as they are separated by a comma.

Note: For Calendar related pages, users are able to enable/disable Athletic filters by from Page settings , Edit Settings.

Page Layout allows users to completely customize the look and feel of the page with content types.

From the Wrench, select Edit Style and then Layout. Content types and Elements on the left can be dragged to the open space on the right. Once added to the page layout, you can then customize each one with specific content, configure basic settings for the content type, or entirely remove the content type from the page. A list of available content types that can be added to a page are located on the left side.

If additional space is needed, Add row will allow additional drop zones to be placed which enables more Content Types to be placed on the layout.

If you want to see how a page looks when it is in active development, Styles shows what the page will look like in place of the layout view. Additional options allow users to apply or edit the page style as well.
