What's New for K-12 'ON' Solution
K-12 releases nifty new features and enhancements for the 'ON' products approximately every four weeks, so keep an eye on this space for details about the latest updates. To find What's new between monthly releases, use the icon in the upper right corner of this help panel. As always, thank you the feedback that helps shape these releases.
We hope you enjoy the following updates! (Updated October 17, 2018)

This month in the K-12 Tips and Tricks blog, we're putting the spotlight on some of the improvements we're making to our online help documentation. Here’s everything we’ve done since the last release:
Teachers, we need your help! We’re creating a Teacher Resource Center and we need your feedback. Check out the blog post to see how you can get involved.
While the help panel isn’t a new addition to the K-12 Products, it has a lot of added functionality to help assist in answering your questions. Let’s break down all of the features users have access to in the panel.
Sharing really is caring. Come take a peek at how Online submissions through Google Drive in the Assignment Center are making it easier than ever before.
We are continuing to make improvements to our Report Card Builder. For our Canadian Schools, we have added the ability to add the Standard and Compulsory codes as columns to the details section of a report card. Simply add a new column to the Courses/Groups grid and select Standard code or Compulsory for the column drop down.
When adding a legend to a report card, you now have the ability to include the Numeric equivalent for each grade translation. Once a grade translation is selected, mark the box for Numeric equivalent to select to include it.
Finally, schools can now add Test Scores to report cards. When in Design form, expand the Summary section and drag over Test scores to include them on the report card. Managers can then specify which Test scores they would like to include on the report card.
To Do tasks added to an Assignment Center by a student now expire if a set date range is set. For example, if a student creates a To Do task with a Due Date of 10/20, the task no longer needs to be manually deleted and is automatically removed from the Assignment Center past that date.
In addition, we've added a character counter to student To Do tasks, letting them know when they're nearing the 500 character limit.
From Marking periods & grade access, academic group managers and teachers can now set marking period and school year cumulative grade access. Edit the marking period you want to modify and you can now select whether or not to show, hide, or only show these grades for a certain amount of time for the following roles:
We have started an Early Adopter Program for the new Transcript builder! The new Transcript builder works on the same drag and drop interface as the recently release Report card builder. Schools can get a visual of their transcript as they build it! Managers can simply drag different sections and data from the tool tray to transcript view.
We are still accepting schools into the Early Adopter Program for Transcript. If your school is interested in participating in our EAP for Transcript builder, fill out the form here.
Core & general features
We have added a Days present column to the Students list. This column displays the number of days a student was present during the specified timeframe for the list.
We've improved Search. You can now search on name, student ID, or email, helping you to better locate the correct individual. Also, on the Contact Card, you can completely remove Host ID and delete the user photo.
We changed the default User List results to better match the Edit User Profile Data results.
Under Core > System Tools > Data Import we’ve added two more Import types to add or update data for existing users via User Management bulk updates:
- You can now import citizenship and resident information to a user’s Contact Card. Fields you can import include the following:
- Is Hispanic
- Birth place
- In state resident
- Resides in county
- Resides in county date
- First primary language
- Visa status
- Visa type
- Visa number
- Visa issue date
- Visa expiration date
- Passport number
- Passport expire date
- Languages spoken at home
- You can now also import phone numbers. Allowable phone types include the following, but be aware, the phone type entered in the import file must match exactly the phone type allowable in the application.
- Home 2
- Home fax
- Business fax
Also, when updating usernames through Core > System Tools > Import Type, you can now enable and disable accounts in bulk through a new Disable/Enable optional column we added.
Inquiry, Application, and School forms now support additional gender options. In addition to Male and Female, admissions managers can enable Other as well.
Please note that existing forms won't have this option available by default to avoid showing Other where it wasn't previously available. New forms that are built have this option enabled by default, but it can be turned off if desired.
When working with School Forms for candidates or students, admissions managers can now view and download attachments from Files and Forms on the sidebar. These files include any attachments currently on the Candidate Profile.
Tip: From any 'ON' product, a What's New topic automatically appears after a new release, so you know what's what. When you close What's New it won't automatically reappear until the next update. To find What's new between monthly releases, use the icon in the upper right corner of this help panel. A platform manager can control who sees this help panel by enabling or disabling the Help Panel task for users and roles.
