Format MICR Settings

You define default MICR line settings for your checks. The MICR line is required by your bank and is used to identify blank paper checks and transfer funds. You must work with your bank to follow rules set by the American Bankers Association to make sure you format the line correctly.

Note: The MICR line and ABA number you format is unique for each bank account.

  1. To access the MICR settings, select MICR Line when you format check settings. For more information, see Format Check Settings.

  2. Use the Preview to verify your MICR line settings display correctly as you make your selections.

  3. Select Auxiliary on-us field options for the check number, Routing field options to display the routing number, and On-Us field options for the On-Us segment of the MICR line.

    Note: When you select a field/character, an example of it displays under Value. This column is non-editable for all field/character options except User-Defined, which accepts characters.

  4. Select Save.
