Invalid Segment Combinations

Invalid segment combinations can prevent specific combinations of segments from becoming accounts. For example, if you never want Department 02 used in Fund 01 on an account record, you can designate that combination as invalid. Under Invalid segment combinations, you can view and add segment combinations that should not be used when creating accounts.

  1. Under Invalid segment combinations, select Edit.

  2. Select Add an invalid segment combination or Add another invalid segment combination, then enter a segment combination.

    Tip: You can use asterisks as wildcard characters to represent any digit from zero to nine.

  3. To check whether the segment you entered is associated with any existing account numbers, select Validate.

    If your entry is associated with existing account numbers, a list appears and displays the account, description, status, and invalid segment combination for each conflicting account. To close the list, select Close.

  4. Once you add segment combinations, you can remove them at any time. Next to a segment combination, select Remove.

  5. After you enter you add, edit, or remove segment combinations, select Save.
