Managing Security Scenario 5

The following scenario will help you to better understand how to manage security and assign privileges for your site.

Scenario: As the Site Administrator, you would like one group of Junior Administrators to manage your New York TeamRaiser and another group to manage the Dallas TeamRaiser.

Because we will divide up access to our TeamRaisers, we will have to create Security Categories for those TeamRaisers - one security category for our New York TeamRaiser and another for our Dallas TeamRaiser. We will then create two Groups of Junior Administrators and assign one group to manage the TeamRaiser that is in the New York Security Category and the other group to manage the TeamRaiser that is in the Dallas Security Category.

To do this, we will take the following steps:

  1. Creating Security Categories for the TeamRaisers

    1. Creating the New York Security Category

    2. Creating the Dallas Security Category

  2. Creating the TeamRaisers and Assigning them to the Appropriate Security Categories

    1. Creating the New York TeamRaiser

    2. Creating the Dallas TeamRaiser

  3. Creating the Security Groups that can Manage the TeamRaisers

    1. Creating the New York Managers Group

    2. Creating the Dallas Managers Group

  4. Adding Members to the Groups

  5. Giving the Groups Permission to Manage the Appropriate TeamRaisers

    1. Giving the New York Managers the Permission to Manage the New York TeamRaiser

    2. Giving the Dallas Managers the Permission to Manage the Dallas TeamRaiser

  6. Testing the Permissions
