With Prospect Research Management, you can research a constituent as a prospective donor and track their giving preferences, financial information, and current classification and status in your moves management process. With these details, you can better develop strategies to cultivate the constituent relationship and determine their giving potential. On a constituent's record, you can view this information under Prospect management.
In the Prospect status field, you can view where the constituent is in your moves management process — such as Identification or Active — and how long they've spent in the current stage. You can also select the arrows on the timeline to quickly view and scroll through a history of their statuses. To view details about a status, highlight its section on the timeline. To view a list of the constituent's previous statuses, select Show status history. For recommendations on the stages and milestones to track as statuses, see Prospect Status.
Note: In the database view, you can edit the constituent's prospect status in the General category on their prospect record.
In the Classification field, you can view the type of prospect you identify the constituent as, such as Individual, Organization, Corporate, or Major Donor. To change the classification, select Edit details, update the information as necessary, and then select Save.
Tip: To view this detail in a list of constituents, select Choose columns , Classification, and Apply changes.
Note: In the database view, you can set up and manage the available classifications from the Classifications category in Tables from Configuration.
Under Financial information summary, you can quickly view the constituent's wealth, including a breakdown of their total estimated assets. Use this information to determine how much to ask for a donation. For detailed information about a particular type of asset, select its name.
Tip: If a prospect has a high total of estimated assets, but most are tied up in real estate and securities, you may want to adjust your solicitation to reflect their liquidity. However, if they have a high amount of philanthropic giving, you may be able to increase your ask based on their likelihood to give.
Note: In the database view, you can edit the constituent's financial information summary in the Financial Information category on their prospect record.
Under Contributions, you can view how much — and how many gifts — the constituent gave other organizations for philanthropic efforts, political campaigns, and other causes. For detailed information about a particular type of contribution, select either of its totals.
Note: The estimates under Contributions are based on the reasons for the constituent's giving, as saved in the Gifts to other Organizations category of their prospect record in the database view. Giving toward "Philanthropic Gift" appears as such, "Federal Election Commission" appears as Political contributions, and everything else appears as Other.
Under Giving preferences, you can view which philanthropic interests the constituent will and won't donate to. Use these preferences to tailor targeted solicitations to match the constituent's interests and increase the likelihood for a donation. To view any notes or details saved about a philanthropic interest, select its comment .
Note: In the database view, you can manage a constituent's giving preferences as philanthropic interests in the General category of their prospect record.
