As Raiser's Edge NXT evolves, it introduces new and enhanced general features on a frequent basis. As a refresher, these features released during 2016.
Extend features with applications — To extend the functionality of Raiser’s Edge NXT, your organization can now use additional applications created by Blackbaud, providers in the Blackbaud Partner Marketplace, someone at your organization, or other approved external developers. These applications securely access your Raiser’s Edge NXT data via the SKY API, so you can do more with your constituents and fundraising efforts. For more information, see Applications.
Note: Admins! To enable an application for your organization, get its unique ID from the developer or Blackbaud Partner Marketplace, and add it in Control Panel, Applications. Once enabled, everyone at your organization — in respect to their security group's rights and permissions — can use the application.
Tip: Want to develop an application that works with the SKY API? Sign up for a free developer account, which provides access to industry-standard and open REST APIs that extend the functionality of Raiser’s Edge NXT. Upon approval, you'll receive your own SKY API subscription key and can register your applications and enable those you develop for your organization. For more information, see the SKY API Getting Started page.
View when invitations expire — After you send an invitation to Raiser’s Edge NXT, you can view whether its recipient responded in the Users and Awaiting response lists in Control Panel, Security. To determine whether the invitation is still active, you can now view its expiration date in the Status column of these lists. For more information, see Users and Invitations.
Note: A new user — even one you already invited — has 30 days to accept an invitation. If it expires, don’t fret! You can always send them another one.
Base a list on a static query or query list — In Lists, you can now create a list of gifts, actions, or constituents based on a static query — or for constituents only, a query list — from the database view. To start with a static query or query list, select Add and Start with a static query, choose its name, and select Open. For more information, see Lists.
Get answers about metrics in Analyze — In Fundraising, Analyze, you can now select Info for any metric to view detailed information specific to its analysis, such as the types of records it counts in the number-crunching or recommendations on how to rebound from a negative trend. For more information, see Analyze.
View when Analyze metrics were updated — To ensure you have the latest analysis, you can now view — with a new As of timestamp — when metrics in Fundraising, Analyze were last updated.
Note: Hang tight! It may take up to six hours for metrics to update based on new or edited information.
Overwrite saved queries and lists with new or updated lists — In Lists, you can save the records in a list as a static query or query list in the database view. To help prevent redundancy and unnecessary clean-up, you can now choose to overwrite a saved list or query when you save a list with its same name in Lists, such as one you update with additional filters or records. Previously, you couldn't save a list with the same name as another list or query. For more information, see Lists.
Note: To help prevent data loss, you can't overwrite a query when it's used with another list or process in the database view.
Start with a new or saved list in Lists — To ease reuse of saved list filters, you can now choose whether to start from scratch or open a saved list and its filters when you create a new list in Lists.
To start from scratch and filter to choose which records to include, select Build a new list.
To start with an existing list or apply its filters to a new list, select Open a saved list.
For more information, see Lists.
Save lists to the database view — In Lists, you can save filter settings for future reuse. You can now also save the records in a list as a static query — or, for a constituent list, a query list — in the database view.
With filters, you can easily open the list again in the future for the latest records that meet the same criteria. To save a list's filters for reuse in the web view, select Save, In web view as filters.
Static queries provide a snapshot of your data at a single moment in time, such as to track a campaign's donors as of a specific date. You can't update these queries with different or additional records. To save a list's records as a static query selection in the database view, select Save, In database view as a static query.
Query lists enable you to add and remove constituents from lists as necessary, such as to refine recipients of an appeal. To save the records of a constituent list as a query list in the database view, select Save, In database view as a query list.
For more information, see Lists.
Work in Fundraising — To help ease navigation, you now select Fundraising, Work to access Work Center, where you can manage your assignments or — depending on your role — other fundraisers' assignments. In addition, you can now also access the Unassigned Constituents list directly in Work Center. To view and manage constituents not currently assigned to fundraisers, select Fundraising, Work, Unassigned. Previously, you selected Fundraising, Unassigned Constituents. For more information, see Unassigned Constituents.
Note: Admins! For each security group, choose which lists its members access in Work Center. For information, see Fundraising Work Center Rights.
Automatically sign out when inactive — To help protect your data, your Blackbaud account now automatically signs out of Raiser's Edge NXT after 30 minutes of inactivity. In case you're "passively" using the program, such as to review a constituent's history with another fundraiser or coordinate your upcoming actions, you'll receive a heads up a couple minutes beforehand and can choose to keep working.
View record directly in lists — When you open a record in a list, such as when you select a constituent's name or gift amount, its information now appears in a panel over the list, rather than its separate record. To best fit your screen, you can adjust the size of the panel as necessary. To navigate from the list to the record, select View full record.
Manage access to tabs in Work Center — To help fundraisers focus on what matters most to them, system admins can now choose which tabs in Work Center a security group can access, such as for those who manage constituent relationships and actions but not gifts. Previously, you could only grant access to Work Center as a whole. For more information, see Fundraising Work Center Rights.
