Shared Addresses

To speed data entry and maintain accurate details about individuals and organizations, you can share an address' location and related details — such as when and whether to use it — between records. To share an address, select Add shared address when you edit a constituent’s address or add a new related individual or organization.

When you edit the location of a shared address, you can choose to update only the current record or all the records that share it. If you update only the current record, you break its link with the other records. However, if you update these related details when you add or edit an address, it remains linked:

  • When it’s valid

  • Whether it’s seasonal and when it’s used

  • Whether an individual or organization asked you not to use it

Note: If you delete a shared address, choose whether to delete it from only the record you're on or all records that use it, and select Save.
