Migration FAQ
Do you have questions about the migration of security groups in database view to roles in web view or users with a Blackbaud ID associated with your organization? You can refer to our Migration FAQ to see some common questions other users have asked.
To ensure your users can access the same web view features as their previous security groups, they now have new
-
Only security groups with rights set for web features migrate to roles.
-
Security groups with only inactive users won't have corresponding roles.
-
If multiple security groups have the same rights set for web view features, they combine into a single role in the web view, regardless of their rights to database view features.
You can access the security groups created in database view. When you add a new user or manage a user's roles, grant the user access to database view. From here, you can link to an existing user and select their security groups.
All users with a Blackbaud ID associated with your organization appear on the Users page. From here, admins manage all of your organization's users across all of your Blackbaud ID-supported solutions — not just Raiser's Edge NXT. For more information about admins, see Admins Tasks.
All users have a Blackbaud ID so that they can sign in to Blackbaud.com and access Support resources. For more information, see Users.
Your Blackbaud ID is the email address you use to securely access your Blackbaud ID profile, Blackbaud solutions, and Support resources. For more information, see Blackbaud ID.
Users and admins create their own Blackbaud ID when an admin at your organization sends them an invitation. When someone receives an invitation, they should accept it in a timely manner to quickly gain access to Blackbaud solutions and resources. For more information, see Users.
When you select Make admin, the user has administrative rights to only web view features. To make a user an admin in the database view, when you add or edit a user, select Raiser's Edge database view and select the Supervisor users security group.
By default, only users with Supervisor rights selected as a group assignment in the database view have access to the Users, Roles, and History pages. Users with Selected group rights selected— even those with rights to Administration, Security in the database view through their security group – do not. To provide access for these users, select Make admin from their manage roles page.
Supervisor users are migrated as admins with full access.
If you use multiple Blackbaud solutions, Supervisors migrate in one of two ways.
-
If the user is a Supervisor in all your Blackbaud solutions, they have full access to all solutions.
-
If the user is a Supervisor in only specific solutions, they have full access to them but not your other solutions.
