The Lexington School

The Lexington School Enjoys a Single School Management System to Run Its Online Communications, Donor Data, Student Information, and Much More

The Lexington School is an independent, coeducational day school enrolling students in either traditional preschool classes or Montessori in grades 1-8. The school was founded in 1959 by Josephine Abercrombie to offer a high-quality independent education for talented children. The school continues to be traditional in curriculum and innovative in method. The mission of The Lexington School is to provide an education of the highest quality to students in preschool through middle school. In a structured, nurturing environment, The Lexington School seeks to instill integrity, a life-long enthusiasm for learning, and a strong work ethic.

Challenge

John Paul II High School in Plano, Texas, opened its doors in 2005 with a student enrollment of 303 students. Today, the school has 644 students with a capacity to serve 1,200 students in grades 9-12. As a new, private school in a well-regarded public school district during a tumultuous economic time, the competition for students can be fierce. In order to grow the student body, become the technology-focused school that will effectively prepare students for the future, and market to prospective students, parents, and donors, the school needed a robust product line that would effectively service its entire constituent base. The school needed solutions to address the needs of its students, parents, faculty, alumni, and donors.

Solution

The Lexington School was already using The Financial Edge, The Raiser’s Edge, and The Education Edge from Blackbaud. Now it is also using Blackbaud’s Online Campus Community. Online Campus Community delivers the power of Blackbaud NetCommunity plus integration with The Education Edge. Once the team at The Lexington School learned about the integrated Blackbaud solution, it decided without a doubt to choose Online Campus Community.

Not only did the school need a website content solution, but it also needed some help with the design. The school used the skills, knowledge, and experience of the Blackbaud design team to build its new site, complete with a page specifically devoted to its 50th anniversary celebrations.

Results

The Lexington School not only got a redesigned website that includes innovative features, easier navigation, and links to the school’s database, but the school has also experienced unquantifiable advantages to having a completely integrated solution.

Additionally, the advantages of Online Campus Community extend beyond the website. The Lexington School is able to select particular groups or individuals and assign roles, enabling the school to create a more personalized web experience, and it will soon send emails based on queries that can be pulled from both The Raiser’s Edge and Education Edge – all enabling The Lexington School to send more targeted communications.
