Extra Credit

Teachers may offer extra credit assignments to give students a chance to potentially raise their grade. To designate an assignment as extra credit, simply select Mark as extra credit in the assignment setup. Keep in mind that assignments marked as extra credit must have a Max points higher than zero.

Extra credit assignments cannot negatively affect a student's cumulative grade. If a student does not complete an extra credit assignment, there is no impact on their grade.

When an assignment is marked as extra credit, the extra points are not added directly to a student's cumulative grade. Instead, the calculation follows the calculation method the teacher has selected for the gradebook. For example calculations including extra credit, see Gradebook Setup - Calculations.

Note: There must be at least one non-extra credit assignment graded in the assignment category for the marking period.
