Yes! Standard name and address matching regularly fails to identify a match between records due to nicknames, variations in contact details, surname changes, abbreviations and manual entry errors. Identity Thread uses probabilistic and deterministic matching that effectively matches records with these inconsistencies—identifying 43% more duplicates on average than standard name and address matching.
Decisions about merging, updating or removing records always remain with your team. The core deliverable of the Identity Thread service is portable, flexible individual and household keys which you can then use to make data management decisions in accordance with your policies, practices and priorities. For customers using Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT or Blackbaud Enterprise Fundraising CRM, Blackbaud can offer additional services to support merges and imports if needed.
Files can be submitted via either managed file transfer (MFT) or API. When submitting via secure FTP, you will provide a flat file (or multiple flat files which can be submitted at once) using one of the two accepted file layouts. Files can be submitted after logging in to the MFT account associated with your organization.
After setting up a SKY API developer account and validating the Identity Thread (Match) API (currently available in private preview and subject to changes), users will be able to send their records form matching via API. SKY API enables best practice security standards for users.
Identity Thread is a database-agnostic service that can be used in conjunction with any database and many data warehouse solutions. The only requirement is that files submitted to Blackbaud must adhere to one of two standard file layouts.
Based on industry best practices, we suggest submitting your full constituency at least once per year. We also suggest quarterly submissions of records with recent contact data changes and daily submissions of new constituent records. Based on your needs, we will establish a defined limit to the number of records that may be submitted each year that will be stated in your contract. Our team will notify you if you approach your annual limit. Ultimately, your team decides how many records to submit and how often to submit files. You may also submit multiple files at one time if you wish.
