Joslin Diabetes Center Capitalizes on Data in Grateful Patient Program
As a global leader in diabetes research, treatment, and education, Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston aims to improve patient lives while working toward preventing and curing diabetes. But as a nonprofit organization, Joslin Diabetes Center relies on donors to move its mission forward – and Blackbaud helps to drive smarter, more strategic fundraising.
With over a century devoted to preventing and curing diabetes, Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston relies on its rooted network of supporters to drive its mission forward. In recent years the Center took an important step in identifying grateful patients, starting a dialogue with them, and then asking for their partnership in the Center’s future.
Joslin Diabetes Center looked to Blackbaud’s Grateful Patient Solution and Patient Conversion Model™ to harness the data available and power a strategic, thoughtful program. Director of Philanthropy Operations Danielle Lavon, who supports 20 fundraisers with research and reporting, said Blackbaud Target Analytics® provided her team with insights as to which patients to cultivate as prospective donors.
“Joslin has an extensive history going back over 100 years, and through that, we have a considerable number of patients who are really grateful for the care that they’ve received,” Lavon said. “They have close bonds with our clinicians, nurses, and other care specialists that we felt were important to grow within our philanthropy team.”
In fact, Joslin Diabetes Center’s 550-person team includes internationally-renowned researchers and the greatest number of diabetes-certified educators in the world. But as a nonprofit organization, the Center relies on private support to remain at the cutting edge of care and research.
