Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston brings people from diverse faith traditions together for dialogue, collaboration, and service, as a demonstration of shared beliefs. Interfaith Ministries believes that through service and dialogue it is possible for people to come to find common ground while maintaining their personal beliefs and keeping their cultures intact.
Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston Taps into Peer-to-Peer Fundraising with Help from TeamRaiser and Blackbaud Success Services
Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston serves the greater Houston community through four areas of service: Meal on Wheels for Greater Houston, Refugee Services, Office of Disaster Preparedness and Response, and Interfaith Relations.
The organization has always been a fan of Raiser’s Edge for tracking and managing donor relations, but in 2014, Interfaith Ministries wanted to focus on boosting its peer-to-peer fundraising efforts using TeamRaiser, the peer-to-peer fundraising solution in Luminate Online.
Every Thanksgiving, Interfaith Ministries organizes 2,000 dedicated volunteers to deliver meals to homebound seniors. In 2014, the organization decided to ask those volunteers to fundraise, so they could feed even more hungry seniors.
Since these volunteers had never fundraised before, Interfaith Ministries used TeamRaiser to manage, motivate, and coach the new fundraisers.
Over a four week campaign, the volunteers-turned-fundraisers raised $62,422 to feed 12,484 homebound seniors on Thanksgiving.
In 2015, the chief development officer at Interfaith Ministries left the organization. Jackie Armstrong, annual fund manager, had to pitch in until the position was filled. Not wanting to miss out on the Thanksgiving fundraising campaign, Jackie turned to Blackbaud Success Services for help.
“Blackbaud Success Services was phenomenal,” Jackie said. “The team essentially took over for me during the search. They ran TeamRaiser when I couldn’t. And that was just fantastic.”
With the help of Blackbaud Success Services, Interfaith Ministries was able to build on the fundraising momentum from the 2014 Thanksgiving campaign and raise nearly $60,000 extra dollars to feed homebound seniors over the 2015 holiday—despite being down a key staff member.
